Grocery shoppers at Food-land Grocery store had their budgets disorganized – in a good way. They went to the store ready to pay for their own groceries, but the local news channel chose to pay for groceries for some of them.

Both the giver and the receiver were immensely happy, to say the least. The first shopper was pleasantly surprised when the reporter approached her and offered to pay for her groceries. Other shoppers did not believe their luck, as they had a tight budget, and the local station’s kindness would go a long way in helping them. There are some shoppers who decided that they would use the cash they had saved to help other people.

The reporter also received something in return for helping the people of Hazel Green. Apart from the warmth that comes from helping others, people gave him hugs and handshakes. There was genuine gratitude from the shoppers, who were very grateful to the local station.

The benefits of random acts of kindness to the recipients are obvious. However, research shows that the doer also gets a reward from performing these acts. People who help others feel happier over time. They feel more moral, positive and optimistic. Doing kind acts can also be good for your health, as it results in the release of oxytocin. Oxytocin causes the body to release nitric oxide, which dilates blood vessels and helps to lower blood pressure. Random acts of kindness bless those who give and those who receive.
