“He Could Have Fitted” Says Kate Winslet, Thereby Assuaging “Titanic” Fans!

Kate Winslet opened up about the scene in “Titanic” where her character Rose is floating on a door and Leonardo DiCaprio’s character Jack freezes to death in the icy water. Speaking with Jimmy Kimmel recently, she says there was plenty of room for him on the raft.

However, director James Cameron has for years said that it was a matter of buoyancy and Jack would have tipped it over…
This was proven mostly false by the Mythbusters team a few years ago.

I say “mostly” because while, yes, her life jacket would have supplied more buoyancy, who thinks she or Jack would have thought of that IN THAT MOMENT?!? Moreover, Cameron gives us the best reason of all for Jack not getting on the raft. “The script called for Jack to die.” He went on to say, “Wait a minute, I’m going to call up William Shakespeare and ask why Romeo and Juliet had to die.” A very good point.

We would never have been so weepy at that moment if Jack had managed to survive, am I right?!
