Though it began as a campaign to raise breast cancer awareness, The SCAR Project has taken on a much deeper meaning. In this groundbreaking photo series, renowned photographer David Jay captures the stories behind the scars for many young survivors, and showcases a part of the healing process that few people see.

Nearly 100 women have traveled from around the world to participate in the project and prove that there is more to the breast cancer fight than a pink ribbon.
