The Zappos CEO Lives In A Trailer And Let’s His Employees Determine Their Wages… What!?

Posted by GreaterGoodness

Most CEO’s homes are usually the stuff of dreams. Ten plus bedrooms, gold plated sconces, and more kitchen staff than an Applebee’s restaurant. But not Tony Hsieh, the CEO of Zappos. Instead of excessive luxury, he’s opted for a simpler and much cozier lifestyle. He says that his 240-square-foot Airstream trailer spot, that only costs $950 a month in rent, is the perfect place for him.

“I care a lot more about experience than stuff.” said Hseih about why he lives how he does.

And that mentality caries over into his business as well. He’s done away with the traditional management style and instead lets all of his employees call the shots. They even get to determine their own wages. It’s a novel concept that could be the way of all businesses in the future.
