Catherine Brutzman, fondly referred to as Mrs. B, has been a school bus driver for more than four decades. During this time, she has eased the stresses of worried parents and taken care of their children while transporting them to and from school.
In recognition for her tireless service, she was thrown a surprise party that was attended by hundreds of people who she knew personally or had driven to school at some point in her career.
And the icing on the cake? Television host Carson Daly invited her to the Today Show in New York City, where she had another pleasant surprise waiting for her – a resort vacation package for two in Colorado.
Mrs. B has perfect attendance and a flawless driving record, according to the Student Transportation of America. She is an excellent role model who has cared for generations of children. Though anyone can have the skills and experience to drive a school bus, Mrs. B says that a caring heart is what sets great drivers apart.
Mrs. B is about to retire from her job as a school bus driver, but she is confident that the person replacing her is just as caring and loving. Until then, she promises to keep driving and helping the people of her town. Mrs. B has given herself wholeheartedly to her career as a school bus driver for decades. Her service has been priceless, and the people of her community along with the crew at NBC showed that they appreciate her efforts and, by extension, those of many other dedicated school bus drivers like her.
