Kids Write Football Player To Show They Care!

A first-grade teacher in MN is using the missed 27-yard field goal by MN Vikings kicker Blair Walsh as a lesson in empathy. No one feels worse than Walsh, I’m sure, and there are plenty of MN fans that are calling for his head, but teacher Judie Offerdahl had her students send Mr. Walsh letters of encouragement in order to make him feel better. “I knew that Mr. Walsh probably felt horrible about it. I also knew it would be a good teachable moment for the kids.” said Ms Offerdahl, a Seahawks fan. A nice gesture, to be sure!

**UPDATE** – Blair Walsh paid a visit to the class to thank everyone in person. “Kids like you are willing to do kind things like that for somebody you don’t even know,” Walsh told the students. “It really meant a lot to me and I just want to say thank you.” He then stayed around to sign autographs and take pictures.
